Virkmönster: Duschboll i Bambugarn / Bath puff

For English pattern scroll down

Varv1: i ringen virkas 3lm (=1:a stolpen), 14st =totalt 15st, slut varvet med 1sm i 3:e lm
Varv2: 3lm (=1:a stolpen), virka 5st i varje st från föregående varv =75st, slut varvet med 1sm i 3:e lm
Varv3: 3lm (=1:a stolpen), virka 3st i varje st från föregående varv =225st, slut varvet med 1sm i 3:e lm
Varv4: 3lm (=1:a stolpen), virka 3st i varje st från föregående varv =675st, slut varvet med 1sm i 3:e lm
Fäst lösa trådar. Gör en snodd av resterande garn.

Bath puff
Yarn: Bamboo Soft, 100m/50g, from Ullcentrum
Hook: 3½ - 4mm (crochet loosely)
Ch 5 sl st in first ch to make ring
Rnd 1: ch 3 (counts as dc), 14dc in ring, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3 = 15dc
Rnd 2: ch 3 (counts as dc), 4dc in same st as joining, *5dc in next dc*, repeat, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3 = 75 dc
Rnd 3: ch 3 (counts as dc), 2dc in same st as joining, *3dc in next dc*, repeat, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3 = 225 dc
Rnd 4: ch 3 (counts as dc), 2dc in same st as joining, *3dc in next dc*, repeat, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3 = 675 dc
Fasten off. Make a twist of the remaining yarn

Bath Puff

materials:
2 – 2 0z. Balls of Lily Sugar’n Cream
Size “J” hook

notes:
-      This pattern takes a surprisingly large amount of yarn.
-      As you increase, the stitches will begin to fold in on themselves and the puff will form and become more and more dense.
-      If you find that the puff is getting more solid than you would like, you might consider using only 5 dc in ea dc in Rnd 3.

pattern:
Ch 40, sl st in first ch
Rnd 1:  ch 3, work as many dc in 1st ch as possibly (try for at least 20), join w/ sl st to 3rd beg ch
Rnd 2-3:  ch 3, 5 dc in same st, 6 dc in ea dc around, join w/ sl st to 3rd beg ch

Finish off and weave in ends.

Crochet Geek - Crochet Puff Stitch Cap with Ear Flaps

Hello Kitty Cap with Ear Flaps Pattern

Size
Fits a small child to teen/ small adult
It is very easy to alter the size. Just take out an increase row and an even row for a toddler or add an increase row and an even row for an adult size

Pattern

Note: I hate the seam. You can see it in one of the photos below. To make a seamless one, just keep going around without joining. Just keep up with your first st (marking it if you have to). When you get to the earflap just start with the singles (eliminating the join).

With H hook (G if you crochet loosely)

Rnd 1: Ch 3, 7 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. Join with sl st. (8 hdc the first 2 chains count as the first hdc of the rnd)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in same st. 2 hdc in each st around, join. (16 hdc)

Rnd 3: Ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next st. (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st) around, join. (24 hdc)

Rnd 4: Ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next 2 sts. (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts) around, join. (32 hdc)

Rnd 5: Ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next 3 sts. (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 sts) around, join. (40 hdc)

Rnd 6: Ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next 4 sts. (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 4 sts) around, join. (48 hdc)

Rnd 7: Ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next 5 sts. (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 5 sts) around, join. (56 hdc)

Rnd 8: Ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next 6 sts. (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 6 sts) around, join. (64 hdc)

Rnd 9- 17: Ch 2, hdc in next st. Hdc in each st around, join. (64 hdc)

First earflap:

Row 1: Sc in same st as join. Sc in next 12 sts. Ch 1, turn. (13 sc)

Row 2: Sc2tog over the first 2 sts, sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (12 sc)

Row 3: Repeat row 2, until 1 st remains. Finish off.

Second earflap

Row 1: Skip next 21 sts and attach with sl st in the next st. Ch 1 and sc in the same st and in next 12 sts, Ch 1, turn (13 sc)

Row 2: Sc2tog over the first 2 sts. Sc across. (12 sc)

Row 3: Repeat row 2 until 1 st remains. Ch 1 and do not finish off.

Work a round of sc around the hat, placing 3 sc in the point of each earflap. Finish off
Leaving approximately 12 inches of tail, attach Red to one of the earflaps. Work a round of sc around the edge, leaving a finishing tail long enough to use in the braid. I start and finish with long tails so I can use them to braid with and won’t have to weave them into the hat.

You'll notice that the earflaps are not totally centered. The front of the hat is the side where there is more space between earflaps. Make sure you take note of this when you begin sewing your eyes, nose, ears, and bow onto the hat.

Eyes (G hook)

With Black, Ch 5
2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in the next 2 chs. 3 sc in last ch. Do not turn. You will work in the opposite side of the ch. Sc in next 2 chs. Sc in last ch which is the first ch. (10 sc)
Don’t fret too much over the eyes and nose…They do not have to be exact, just small ovals.

Nose (G hook)

With Yellow Ch 4

2 Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next st, 3 sc in last ch. Do not turn. Work in the opposite side of the ch. Sc in next ch, sc in next st. Sc in same chain as the first sc worked. You’ll end with a small oval shape. (8 sc)

Ears (G hook) and holding 2 strands of yarn together
With White Ch 3
Row 1: 7 Hdc in 3rd ch from hook. Ch 1, turn (7 hdc)

Row 2: 2 sc in first st. sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, 2 dc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, 2 sc in last st. (12 sts) Finish off.

Bow

With Red Ch 11

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook. Hdc in each st across. Ch 2, turn. (10 hdc)

Rows 2- 10: Hdc in each st. Finish off

Take a long strand of Red and wrap around the middle of the bow to draw it in. Wrap several times. Tie the ends in the back of the bow. Using the yarn needle weave the ends into the bow to hide then use these same ends to sew onto the hat. Sew the middle of the bow and bottom of the bow onto the hat. I found that if you do not sew the bottom of the bow to the hat, it will curl up.

Whiskers

Use a yarn needle to embroider the whiskers. They will be straight if you work into the stitches and not in-between them.

Braids
I used only the red, but you can make them however you wish. I used 15 strips for each earflap.

Sew the eyes and nose onto the hat. Do not sew the eyes too close together. Mine may be a little too far apart. I used a picture to go by.

There you go...enjoy!

Crocheted Scarf {Free Pattern}

Now that the weather is starting to cool, I have been enjoying a spot of crocheting. It is so relaxing to sit with some yarn in front of the TV at night. I have designed and made a scarf using some gorgeous BC Garn Baby Alpaca Yarn from Suzy Hausfrau Yarn Store. The supersoft, lightweight yarn was perfect for the lacy design, it drapes beautifully, and  is very warm. The skein is a generous 500 m (547 yards) which is ideal for a scarf and is available in a wonderful range of colours.

If you would like to make your own scarf, I have included the instructions below. The free scarf pattern has been named the Maureen Scarf after my sweet Mum who is a fantastic crocheter and lover of yarn. The pattern is very easy and repetitive, perfect for crocheting on the go or in front of the TV.

One Row Lace Scarf

Lace scarf

Materials:

I used 45 g (~175 yards) of a superfine alpaca yarn. The scarf is about 13 x 150 cm (~5 x 60 inches) unblocked, and it's very stretchy in both width and length.

Needles: 6 mm (US 10).

Use bigger needles than the yarn usually calls for.

Gauge (not important): 8 sts = 5 cm (2 inches) in pattern.

Skill level: Easy(/Intermediate)

Note: This will make an (unblocked) width of about 13 cm (about 5 inches). To increase the width: add 4 or more stitches, dividable with 4. The scarf is very stretchy, but you could use a bigger/smaller needle size, thicker/thinner yarn or adjust the stitch count to get a different size.

K= knit
K2tog= knit 2 stitches together
YO= Yarn over
Sts= stitches

Pattern:

Cast on 24 sts (or any number of stiches dividable with 4).

Knit 2 rows

Knit pattern row:

K4, (YO, K2tog, K2) repeat between ( ) 5 times.

Repeat the pattern row until your scarf is at desired length.

Knit 1 row.

Cast off loosely.

Finishing:

Weave in ends.
Block if you want to.

If you make this scarf please let me know! I would love to see what you have created.

Arrowhead Lace Scarf

Arrowhead lace scarf

Requirements

Yarn: Lace weight cashmere-silk yarn from Jade Sapphire (55 gms, 400 yds) or another lace weight yarn. 400 yards is probably way more than you would need.  I probably used around 300 yards for a 5 foot scarf.  You could also use heavier weight yarn and increase the size of the needles.
Needles: Size 3 US

Directions

Cast on 43 stitches loosely. This is where my memory gets bad and my notes are lacking. I think I launched straight into the lace pattern, but I might have knit a single row. No more than that.
Start Pattern: Rows 1 and 3 (WS): Purl.
Row 2 (RS): k2, *(yo, ssk) twice, k1, (k2tog, yo) twice, k1; rep from *; end last repeat with k2.
Row 4 (RS): k3, *yo, ssk, yo, sl2 knitwise, k1, p2sso, yo, k2tog, yo, k3; rep from *; end last repeat
with k3.
Repeat these four rows until the scarf is the desired length ending with row 4 and bind off loosely. Weave in ends and block.
If you want a wider or narrower scarf, add or remove one or more pattern repeats between the *s, and add or remove 10 stitches from your cast on for each pattern repeat.
ssk: slip, slip, knit slipped stitches together through the back
k2tog: knit 2 stitches together
yo: yarnover
p2sso: pass the two slip stitches over the knit stitch. (double decrease)
sl2 knitwise: slip 2 stitches knitwise.
That’s all there is to it. The pattern looks worse than it is and it’s easy to memorize.
